There is much insight to be gained in meditating on the concept of emotions.
The word itself is based on the Latin “e” (variant of “ex”=out) and movere (=move). The French used “emotion” to denote a public disturbance and “emouvoir”(=excite) in the 16th century.
Emotion has this sense of movement towards the outside. They are a tool to feel reality and we use how we feel to make our daily life choices.
They give an indication of the present intensity of the current in a given circuit we are connected to. They also tell us what we have an affinity with and what we feel curious about. They tell us where we want to be directing and focusing the current of our energies.
Emotions are on a constant exchange with the outside. Their flow within ourselves is observable, just as much as the effect they create outside of ourselves is, when transmitted to others.
I’m suggesting today to observe the movements of your feelings. Where do they originate and where do they go.
You may also notice where in your body or mind you feel a stagnation, a part of you dwelling in some past memories.
Emotions are the impressions our environment and others make on us. They are received so to be processed and find a way to expression. They are not meant to be kept for long, but rather to be shared and continue their journey within our collective evolution
