#29 Invite

INVITE. Acrylic and ink on mixed media paper 150gsm. A5. 29 Jan 2022

What do we invite in our lives? And how do we make sure that what we invite takes roots and thrives?

These are my reflection today.

Asking the trees for wisdom, they said:

“With enough space, light, water and warmth, and given time, everything grows.

There is an abundance of all the above in the universe and life is pretty good at organising itself without the help of humans.

The real question for Man, is rather what does he allows to grow inside and alongside his self?”

We can look at the way trees are interacting with the rest of nature and inviting life to grow around them and be part of their experience.

Trees have learned to grow purposefully. Their purpose is to help life take root around them.

They will settle the ground, organise and store nutrients, recycle used air, and grow upward so to take a minimum of space in the ground.

In doing so they naturally facilitate the growth of an ecosystem around them, which benefits them greatly in return.

The idea present here is that the way we each interact with our environment influences what can grow in it, which feeds us in return too.

The invitation there is to reflect on whether we give enough time, space and resources for the things we want to invite in our lives to be comfortable and thrive.
